3D image and Unity game plan.

Okay for my 3D image, I tweaked some parts like the lightning and rendering options. This was to match the Mac computers which seem to have darker lit screens than a PC.

For some reason the image is way too bright once it was posted up here. As long as it's looking fine on the macs then, I don't mind how it looks on here.  I also brightened up the sword to give it more presence in the scene which is an improvement over the dull brightness it previously had.
As for the unity game plan, it looks like we'll be given assets for a zombie shooter game to work with so I'll put the dragon idea on hold for now.

Stencyl game update and unity 3D game plan.

Okay during the holidays, I managed to get Milk Run to a point I could submit despite still having some issues. These included the inventory not working apart from the bag itself showing up on the screen when the I key is pressed, collision issues and boundary sides not sending the character Dawn to the Grim Reapers domain. Hope to get these fixed before the exhibition.
Now for the 3D unity game, I wish to use this character I developed back at University:

This character named Kanon, has her rig, textures, modeling and mostly painted weights complete, so she's just about ready to go. For the actual game genre, considering something like a flight game where you'll control to fly and dodge objects like rocks or even enemies if time allows.

3D Environment progress.

Okay here is the monuments along with the cavern which still could use a bit more tweaking. Next up is applying the texture, tweaking lightning and render options.

I've done additional sculpting since this render so the cavern is starting to come along nicely. So far I've really starting to enjoy blender more thanks to this assignment.

Milk Run game NPC and Monsters

Here's the sprite for the old man named Jo who lives next door to Dawn and Dusk. I decided to include him as an NPC to give a mini objective to complete. The monsters include a rat, evil slime and the wolf boss. For some reason Pencyl won't let me save out the other monsters as an image format I can post here, so guess it will only the rat.

Realistic 3D Environment Progress Image

Here is an image of the monument. I'm currently still working on the cavern with the sculpt tool which isn't going too bad.

Blender Realistic Environment Progress

Currently my image isn't going too bad as the previous weekend and some time earlier was spent working on it. It took a bit to get into the swing of things due to my not so fondness of Blender but recently I've begun to enjoy it more as I model the environment. Later on today I'll post up some progress renders once I feel confident with how it's progressing.

Character Sprites

So far I've done the in game sprites for Dawn, Dusk and Mum. Next I'll work on two other NPC's, enemies, wolf boss and Dawn's battle sprite. I only plan to have Dawn fighting in battle due to Dusk being kidnapped for a majority of the game later on the extended version.

Dawn
 Dusk
 Mum

Mlik Run Environments

These environments were done super quickly in Pencyl, a stencyl application used for the design aspects like the sprites and backgrounds.

 Dawn and Dusk's House
 Park with Fountain
 Road to Town
Neighbors House

Stencyl Game Assignment

For our Stencyl game assignment, we have been put into groups of two. Jaren and I are in the same group which is good because we have similar interests. Our game concept is the following:

Milk Run:

Dawn and Dusk are two siblings sent on a quest to by milk for their abusive coffee addict mother.
On the way to town the encounter the usual feral wild life like rats, rabbits, dogs and a big nasty wolf boss.
They also help out some of the random people including their next door neighbor Jo and the parks groundskeeper.

This is a rough summary of the actual version being submitted but it's original concept is longer, however due to time restraints, I'll have to work on completing it properly in my free time.

Blender Environmental tutorials

Here are more tutorial results created in Blender on Environments.

Cavern

The cavern tutorial went into detail and showed just how important textures are in making basic geometry turn out with more realistic. The actual geometry is a cylinder/tube with a plane for the water. The textures, mapping, lighting and effects add to the scenes detail.

Candle with a flame particle effect

The candle tutorial started off with modeling the candle the went into setting up the flame particle effect which has a realistic flicker. There are some places were this result can be tweaked like the flame glow but time restraints meant leaving it and completing the next tutorial.

Swarm of Bees

The bee swarm tutorial I enjoyed the most. First was building a really toony yet cute bee, then particle instancing the bee after animating it and repeating it's animation cycle with the Graphs editor.  This was the final tutorial I worked on and from there I went on with the environment image assignment.

Blender modeling tutorials

Okay here are a couple of blender tutorials I completed a while ago. Was meant to have these up sooner but been pretty busy lately. First one is a sword and the next is a shark. The shark I'm not entirely impressed with due to it looking nothing like a shark, but that's how the tutorial was meant to result in.

.Reason for these tutorials is to help me grasp how to use the program blender since I come into this degree with a Maya background. I was given the option to stick with Maya but I felt it necessary to expand my experiences in using various 3D programs.

3D Envirnment Image Assignment Inspirations

For my 3D Image, I wish to create a cavern environment filled with monuments and temple like structures.
I found these Images from Google search as inspirations:

Stencyl and Blender tutorial progress.

At the beginning of these subjects, I'm required to work through some tutorials for Blender and crash courses for Stencyl. I was given the option to use Autodesk Maya in regards to the 3D environment assignment. This is because I'm coming from a background where I used Maya but I feel the more experience I have in different 3D programs, the better off I'll be in the industry so now I'm learning Blender.

Stencyl Game Concept plan

Hi there! :) For one of our assignments, we need to create a game in the game engine Stencyl.
At first I wanted to make an Role play game but consider the complexity involved in building one from scratch so I changed my mind. Now I'm going for the idea of making a platformer since as a beginner, will be the safer option.
My plans are to make this game about a pirate seeking treasure and must battle numerous enemies to reach the loot at the end of each level. Considering how much I love rpg games, I wouldn't mind adding in a leveling up system or equipment feature. The loot will be in the form of a treasure chest and might contain gold or a special item like a piece of equipment.
This is the same post from another blog here so I decided post it up since it concerns this topic.

Introduction

Hiya! This is my blog dedicated to my progress towards the game development and 3D aspects. This is a part of the Interactive Digital Media Diploma as with the other two blogs here.
Soon I'll be posting up a few images and videos showing the work in progress mainly the assignments but might post up the tutorials I've worked on which is for the 2D game engine Stencyl and 3D program Blender.
